eSports revenue surges in Germany, biggest market in Europe

Revenue from eSports events in Germany have surged in the past year, generated by the sales of tickets, media rights and sponsorship deals in the new global phenomenon of electronic sports gaming.

Revenue grew 22% to €62.5mil (RM289.35mil) in 2018 compared to the previous year, according to a study by the consultancy PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) released Aug 19. A separate study by Deloitte put 2018 revenue as high as €70mil (RM324.07mil).
