On July 24, LG announced its follow-up to the HU80KA 4K laser projector released last year. While the previous model could project up to a 150in image when placed 14.1 feet from the wall, the new HU85LA can create up to a 120in picture from just 7.2in away.

Yesterday, LG launched their first "ultra short throw" 4K Ultra HD projector, the HU85LA, a follow-up to last year's HU80KA model.

This updated rendition shortens the projector's required distance from the wall to create its maximum image size by over 13 feet – the HU85LA only needs to be placed 7.2in away to project a 120in picture. And at just 2.2in from the wall, the projected image measures 90in.

Like the previous generation, the 4K UHD picture has 8.3 megapixels. On the other hand, the number of lumens has increased by 200, resulting in the production of more vibrant colours without having to "close the blackout curtains".

Equipped with the company's AI ThinQ technology and Google Assistant, this smart projector can do everything your other voice-controlled smart home devices can, including control the lights, browse through content, and answer your questions about traffic or the news.

The ultra short throw LG Laser 4K CineBeam HU85LA projector is available now in the United States for US$5,999 (RM24,714). – AFP Relaxnews
