The Redmi 7A has a 12-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Xiaomi has unveiled a budget smartphone, the Redmi 7A, which it claims can last for two days on a single charge.

The Chinese company attributes the long battery life to the sizeable 4,000mAh battery and mainly to the power-efficient octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset.

However, this claim comes with a disclaimer that the battery life is based on moderate usage so actual results may vary.

The Redmi 7A features a 5.45in display but with thicker bezels, as it doesn’t have a notch for housing the front-facing camera and speaker.

The display has a 18:9 ratio and pixel density of 295ppi (pixels per inch).

As for cameras, it has a 12-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera with facial recognition. However, it doesn’t come with a fingerprint scanner.

For those who find music streaming too mainstream, Xiaomi boasts that the smartphone can pick up FM radio signals without an external antenna.

The splash resistant phone has a microUSB 2.0 connector for charging, 3.5mm headphone jack, and microSD card slot for adding more memory.

The smartphone measures 146.3 x 70.4 x 9.6mm in size and weighs 165g.

The Redmi 7A is available in Matte Blue and Matte Black at authorised Mi Stores – the 16GB model costs RM399 while the 32GB goes for RM439. Both have 2GB RAM.

Only the 16GB version will be available on official online stores but at a later date – July 22 on Shopee and July 26 on Lazada.
