Malaysian Pokémon Go players will now be able to help shape the game's map by nominating PokéStops, which influence how popular a location is with players.

Game maker Niantic announced that level 40 players will be able to nominate locations as Pokéstops, virtual checkpoints that increase the frequency of pocket monsters appearing, which players can interact with to get in game items.

To nominate a PokéStop, users need to submit a name, description and photo of the location photographed by them. The nomination will be reviewed by other players. Players can make up to seven nominations in two weeks.

Niantic recommends the nominations have educational and cultural value – like a monument or landmark – while being in public and safe areas, accessible by pedestrians.

It also announced the return of three legendary Pokémon as raid bosses, which will be available starting next week.

Lunar Pokémon Cresselia will be in raid battles from May 28 to June 19 (local time), while Sea Basin Pokémon Kyogre comes to town June 19 to June 28, and Continent Pokémon Groudon emerges June 28 to July 11. All have a chance of appearing in its Shiny version, namely in an alternate colour palette.

Raid battles are special challenges that require groups of players to work together to defeat a boss Pokémon, to earn the chance to catch the rare creature.

Niantic announced that Slacker Pokémon Slakoth will be featured in the upcoming Community Day on June 8, though the special move rewarded for evolving it to its ultimate version Slaking has not been revealed.

The game is also rolling out new Pokémon from the Sinnoh region and a new mechanic, type-specific Lure Modules – Glacial Lure Modules, Mossy Lure Modules, and Magnetic Lure Modules – which attract creatures of the matching type, and even affect their evolution.

A new ground-type move – Earth Power – has been rolled out as well, and can be used by Nidoqueen, Nidoking, Aerodactyl, Camerupt and Claydol.
