As reported by CNET, Amazon's finance chief said during a conference call on April 25 that the company is working on reducing Prime's exclusive free two-day shipping perk to just one day.

During an earnings call April 25, Amazon's finance chief Brian Olsavsky revealed that the company is "spending heavily" to hasten the free two-day shipping option available to Prime members to one day.

In fact, CNET reported that Amazon has invested US$800mil (RM3.31bil) to make the change happen which will first be implemented in North America followed by the rest of the world.

Just last month, the company dropped the US$35 (RM144.72) minimum purchase required for one-day delivery. Both these changes complement Amazon's gradual expansion of same-day and one-day shipping options to more markets.

Olsavsky believed that this will "open up a lot of potential purchases" by encouraging customers to "buy more stuff on Amazon that they need right away".
