Most people are probably familiar with blood-pressure gauges. They have an inflatable cuff, air tube, measuring unit and sometimes a small built-in computer. But that was yesterday.
Among the exhibits at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, was a modern blood-pressure gauge. Called BPM Core, the French-made device measures heart rate along with blood pressure, takes an electrocardiogram and can point to a risk of serious conditions, including atrial fibrillation and valvular heart disease. On top of it all, it syncs its data to a health app on your smartphone.
