On Feb 19 at the 2019 NAHB International Builders' Show in Las Vegas, Leviton announced its next-generation Load Center circuit breaker newly complete with integrated WiFi or Ethernet hub.

Electrical wiring equipment manufacturer Leviton announced the latest version of its Load Center breaker box on Feb 19 – this isn't your average circuit breaker, it's an intelligent, Internet-connected circuit breaker.

Either a WiFi or Ethernet enabled data hub is integrated right into the box so that circuit breaker data can be transmitted directly to a homeowner's router and to the Leviton cloud.

Through the My Leviton App (available for Android and iOS devices), users will be able to track everything about their electricity in real-time from usage per circuit branch or appliance to usage trends and electricity bill predictions. Additionally, homeowners can set up mobile alerts to be sent when a circuit breaker trips, as well as "remotely turn off a branch circuit breaker to shed loads" from their smartphones.

Not only will always this breaker help owners to monitor their energy consumption, but it will also ease the diagnostic process for contractors.

While there's no commercial price or release date for the smart breaker yet, it wouldn't be a surprise if that information was reserved for electricians, builders, contractors, and homeowners designing their homes from the ground up, as rewiring one's house is best left to the professionals. – AFP Relaxnews
