Far Cry: New Dawn lets players go on an apocalyptic adventure

The world has ended and a nuclear blast has completely changed the landscape. But fear not – there's still enough weaponry and material to go on a first-person shooting rampage in Far Cry: New Dawn.

Fans of Ubisoft's first-person shooter franchise Far Cry can rejoice: With the release of Far Cry: New Dawn, less than a year after Far Cry 5, they can learn what happens in Hope County after a nuclear disaster.

The locations in the new instalment are all the same as in the previous one, and ruthless cult leader Joseph Seed is also back. But despite the similarities, this is not the same game as Far Cry 5.

Players in the new game must face the harsh new realities of a world hit by multiple nuclear blasts. The environment has been completely warped to become a wasteland; flora and fauna have been transformed.

Other new elements are crafting and role-play features – and you have to start creating and building your own weapons, instead of buying them from the shop. You can also try to get weapons off your enemies.

To build the weapons, you have to collect all kinds of materials, which can be stolen from bad guys or found at different locations across the world. Every weapon you create is unique. Some are just practical: Who wouldn't want a flamethrower or a saw launcher?
