Gris elevated over God Of War, Moss at Annie Awards

Just as Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse won the prestige Best Animated Feature accolade at the 2019 Annie Awards, its fellow December debut Gris received the trophy for video game animation.

Nintendo Switch and Windows PC game Gris, a budget-priced debut for Spain's independent Nomada Studio, has clinched an award at the Annies, the animation industry's pinnacle gala.

There it was chosen ahead of PlayStation's big studio action games God Of War and Marvel's Spider-Man, Square Enix's multiplatform tentpole Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, and another PlayStation console exclusive in charming mouse adventure, Moss.

The explorative adventure had already been well-received at review upon its Dec 13 release.

It is in the running for another two awards at both the 2019 DICE Awards on Feb 13 and the 2019 Game Developers Choice Awards on March 21.

Also at the Annies, 18-minute VR animated short Crow: The Legend, whose voiceover cast includes John Legend, Constance Wu, Diego Luna, Liza Koshy and Oprah Winfrey, won the award for Best Virtual Reality Production.
