Update: Nex.life is currently only available in selected areas in Kelantan and Terengganu.
A new telco player Nex.life has entered the fray offering unlimited home broadband and mobile Internet under a single plan.
The FAQ states that users can enjoy up to 20Mbps home Internet speed, as well as 4G/LTE mobile Internet in selected areas.
Should a customer be in a non-4G/LTE area, they can use the monthly allocation of 500MB non-high speed data that will be throttled to 64Kbps once the quota is depleted.
Both home and mobile Internet services are made available in one account, under a single bill, and users are not able to choose or terminate either one of the service.
New customers will have to sign up for a 12-month contract with an RM300 upfront fee that will be offset in their monthly bill upon successful installation and service activation. They are also required to purchase their own WiFi router, based on their budget and preference, prior to the installation. Nex.life offers a list of recommended router manufacturer and model here.
To get started, check if Nex.life covers your area of preference. If eligible, you will be asked to provide three preferred time and dates for the team to schedule the installation. You will then be contacted to set the final time and date of the installation, but do be warned that an RM200 penalty will be charged if you reschedule less than 72 hours of the initially agreed appointment.
Nex.life offers additional information prior to the home Internet installation: "If your premise is a high rise building served via copper, you are required to terminate your existing broadband service (if any) before subscribing to Nex.life; minimal drilling is required for fiber installation to the premise; no installation appointment will be made for premise under renovation; and both home and mobile Internet service will be activated upon successful installation of home Internet – partial service activation is not allowed".
Nex.life is powered by Webe Digital Sdn Bhd, while appointed installers from Telekom Malaysia are in charge of installing customer's home Internet. Users' mobile SIM cards will be delivered to their doorsteps.
The plan offers unlimited home and mobile Internet at RM110 a month – though for an unspecified introductory period, users can sign up for RM100 monthly. Prices are exclusive of 6% Sales and Service Tax (SST).
All domestic calls and SMS on the mobile plan will be charged based on usage: calls costs RM0.20 per minute and SMS RM0.15 per message, while the home Internet package offers only data service without any voice feature.
