Explore how magic, theme park rides, totemic keyblade weapons, and the power of Disney legends unite the different worlds of Kingdom Hearts III.
As Disney crossover adventure Kingdom Hearts III prepares to launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from Jan 29, the video game's developer and publisher, Square Enix, has an overview video ready for a near-final pitch.
This overview video knits all that together, showing how Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts non-Disney lead, Sora, travels through 15-plus worlds using special Keyblades to help light defeat the darkness of recurring villain Master Xehanort.
On the way, players will wander through environments and meet characters from Disney favourites such as Big Hero 6, Frozen, Hercules, Tangled, Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Pirates Of The Caribbean, Ratatouille and Winnie The Pooh.
There'll even be mini-games based on old Mickey Mouse adventures and retro LCD handheld video games, and riding theme park attractions based on those from Disney Parks even form a core part of winning each world's freedom.
Collectors can also immerse themselves in a quest for accessories to build and customise the spaceship that lets them travel between worlds.
A review embargo lifted as the video was released, and though several prominent outlets cautioned that they would have to weigh in at a later date, having not yet received review codes, enthusiastic early verdicts led to a Jan 24 cross-platform average of 89 at OpenCritic and a weighted PlayStation 4 average of 88 at Metacritic. – AFP Relaxnews
