Instagram users have recently been claiming that the social network is limiting the reach of their posts – and the company has finally taken notice.
One widely circulated post claims that Instagram has quietly adopted an algorithm that restricts user posts to only 7% of the person's followers.
Instagram has taken to Twitter to refute the allegation, claiming that it has not imposed such a restriction.
It says the posts that show up first in a user’s feed is determined by what posts and accounts the person engages with the most.
Other contributing factors include the timeliness of the posts, how often the person uses Instagram and how many people he or she follows.
Instagram also claims that it has not made any recent changes to the feed and does not hide posts from people the user is following.
If you want to see all the posts, you just have to keep scrolling, the company says, as the feed is personalised according to usage.
However, some users are not happy with the answer and are asking the company to go back to a chronological feed.
