Digi is launching a new mobile data management feature for both postpaid and prepaid customers using Android devices.

Instead of using the Digi app, subscribers can access details about their mobile data plan by simply going through the phone settings. The feature also allows Digi customers to purchase data offers and receive alerts about their data plans.

The mobile data management feature is a collaboration between Google and Telenor Group, which Digi is a part of. The feature will be made available through the Mobile Data Functionality in Android devices running on 4.0 operating system and newer.

Digi's head of iTelco How Lih Ren believes users will benefit from mobile data management feature on their Android devices.

"As this feature can be accessed directly in the phone settings, it is now even more convenient for our customers to enjoy our services non-stop with minimal disruption. Having the ability to update their data plan and easily purchase relevant offers directly within the Android user interface, customers can now look forward to a better Internet experience," he said in a press statement.

However, the feature does not allow users to make monthly bill payments. That feature is currently available on the Digi mobile app.

Digi is rolling out the feature in a pilot phase to some of its Android base customers and will eventually introduce the feature to all users in stages.
