The latest new year Google Doodle looks cute in purple, with little elephants helping prepare for a New Year's party.

Google is celebrating the coming New Year with a Google Doodle for the day, featuring partying purple elephants.

"A mammoth pile of balloons? Check. A ton of party hats? Check. A herd of friends and family ready to countdown? Check. Let the New Year’s Eve festivities commence!" says Google, in its Doodle Archive. https://www.google.com/doodles/new-years-eve-2018

"At the stroke of midnight, it’s out with the old and in with the new. We’ll sing that song “Should old acquaintance be forgot,” but there’s no need to worry about our purple friends. Elephants never forget," it adds.

The purple elephants bear a passing resemblance to Pixar's Inside Out character, Bing Bong the imaginary friend.

In the GIF, the pair of purple pachyderms are seen using their trunks to inflate balloons and eat popcorn.

The colourful banner in the background spells out Google, with a clock standing in for the second "o".

This Google Doodle is available in all territories with access to the search service, with no alternate version for different territories.

This means those in China, North Korea, and several countries in the African continent are not able to view the Doodle.

Google has been putting out New Year Doodles every Dec 31 since 2011.
