MCMC kicks off survey to collect data on mobile phone users in Malaysia

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced that it will be conducting a Hand Phone Users Survey to collect data on mobile phone users in Malaysia.

According to a notice posted on the MCMC official Twitter account, the survey will be conducted via telephone from the MCMC CATI (computer-assisted telephone interviewing) Centre in Cyberjaya from now till Dec 12.

The data collection exercise will be conducted daily from 9am to 6pm, except on national and Selangor public holidays.


The only purpose of this survey is data collection and the information will be used to derive statistics at the national level.

It also says that the MCMC will not ask for money or solicit sales and respondents are randomly selected by computer, based on registered phone numbers.

It added that it didn’t receive any personal information of subscribers from the telcos.

Previously, MCMC announced that it will be conducting a Customer Satisfaction Survey on broadband and mobile cellular services. The survey is ongoing until Dec 31.
