New Internet service provider offering 1GBps fibre broadband service plan

ViewQwest is offering a 1Gbps broadband plan for RM148 a month but customers have to sign up for a 24-month contract.

There's a new Internet service provider in town.

Singapore-based ViewQwest is offering a fibre broadband service called Fibernet. Its website has listed a 1Gbps plan with two different price points.

Customers opting for the 12-month contract will have to pay RM168 a month, while those signing up for the longer commitment plan of 24 months will pay RM148 per month.

Coverage area is currently limited to five locations in Malaysia, namely Setia Eco Glades in Cyberjaya, Setia Sky 88 and Suasana Iskandar in Johor Bahru, as well as Tropicana Avenue and Tropicana Gardens in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

The company claims four key features about its broadband service: the same upload and download speed, absolutely zero traffic-shaping so customers will get the full bandwidth available, and a smart-routing technology to enable users to get to their favourite websites faster.

The plan also comes with free Netgear router and customers get to keep the hardware at the end of the contract period.
