Lenovo and HP make almost half of PCs shipped worldwide

PC shipments totaled 67.2 million worldwide in the third quarter of 2018, marking a slight increase of 0.1% compared with the third quarter of 2017, according to the research firm, Gartner. Chinese manufacturer Lenovo maintains its lead over American firm HP both of which have a market share exceeding 20%.

Now, more than 45% of PCs sold globally are made by Lenovo or HP. Lenovo shipped 15.8 million PCs between July and September this year, claiming a market share of 23.6% (+2.2 percentage points year on year). For Q3, the Chinese manufacturer leads HP (14.6 million, 21.8%), Dell (10.7 million, 16%), Apple (4.9 million, 7.3%), Acer (4.07 million, 6.1%) and Asus (4.01 million, 6%).
