The PC version of social action game Monster Hunter: World enjoys continued popularity on the Steam, Humble and Fanatical stores, while motorsports sim F1 2018, comedy healthcare manager Two Point Hospital, basketball title NBA 2K19 and low-budget horror adaptations of Scooby Doo and The Simpsons also feature in our roundup for Aug 27.

Already a critical and commercial success following a January 2018 debut on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Monster Hunter: World stays at the peak of the Steam chart two and a half weeks after its PC release, with high Humble and Fanatical placings to boot.

Joining it as a relatively new entry to the Steam top five is this year's edition of the official Formula 1 motorsport simulation, F1 2018, which launched Aug 24 across console, computer, and iOS, generating positive review scores in the process thanks to a combination of career mode realism and circuit-based thrills.

Elsewhere, Two Point Hospital misses out on a Steam top five placing but the highly anticipated homage to acclaimed, humorous late 1990s management game Theme Hospital makes it to second on Fanatical ahead of an Aug 30 release.

Likewise basketball sim NBA 2K19, shooting for a Sept 11 spot across PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, makes it to third on Fanatical with its equivalent of a deluxe edition, despite pushback over the aggressive implementation of in-game real money purchases in last year's NBA 2K18.

Highly rated action adventure Hollow Knight leaps back into the Humble and GOG top fives as a content update coincides with the release of a third optional expansion for the game; meanwhile, on Itch.io, horror-themed riffs on children's cartoons Scooby Doo and The Simpsons feature prominently, as does the lighter, sillier pirate action prospect Blow The Hen Down, made in 72 hours as part of a worldwide Ludum Dare game-making contest.
