Touch ‘n Go to give cash back for some LRT rides this National Day


Touch N Go, Rapid Card and the Smart 30 card can be used at all the new LRT ticketing stations as well.

In the spirit of Merdeka, Touch 'n Go (TNG) is making some trips through public transport free by offering cashback to those using their QR Transit system.

“QR Transit testers can enjoy 100% Cashback for their LRT Rides at the seven selected LRT stations using their QR Transit features,” says TNG on its site.

The promotion is valid from 6am to 11.59pm on Aug 31, during which all rides at the selected stations would be reimbursed with cash back within seven days. 

QR Transit is a feature in the TNG eWallet app, which lets users scan a QR code at the train station gate as they enter or exit the station, to pay for their fare instead of using a ticket or TNG card.

The feature is still in a testing stage, and users will need to download and register for a TNG eWallet account, then register as a QR Transit Tester.

QR Transit is currently available at seven LRT stations – Kelana Jaya, Universiti, Kerinchi, KL Sentral, Dang Wangi, KLCC, and Ampang Park.

TNG warns that QR Transit testers who enter or exit other LRT stations that do not have the QR Transit readers – meaning other than the seven selected LRT stations – will not be entitled to the cashback and may be required to pay full value of the ticket or even the penalty amount (as the case may be).
