Models showing the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Note 9

Want the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 but already have a rather new smartphone? Samsung Malaysia Electronics has a trade-in offer, with rebates up to RM3,200.

According to Samsung Malaysia's site, customers can trade in selected phones between Aug 22 and Sept 30.

The devices with the highest values are flagship models such as the Apple iPhone X 256GB model (RM3,200), Samsung Galaxy S9+ 256GB (RM2,050), Galaxy S9 64GB (RM1,900), and Huawei P20 Pro (RM1,700).

The trade-in programme has four classifications from Grade A to D, depending on the degree of wear and tear or age of the device.

The requirements for trade-ins: the phone can be turned on and off, the IMEI is accessible, there is no damage to the casing or buttons, the display is functioning, and the phone is unlocked.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9, which launched in Malaysia today, has a battery rated at 4,000mAh, the largest ever in a Samsung flagship.

The phone comes in two versions – 128GB with 6GB RAM or 512GB with 8GB RAM. It also has a microSD expansion slot that supports cards up to 512GB in size.

The other upgrade is to the stylus, the S Pen, which now has Bluetooth connectivity.

This allows users to take photos remotely from up to 10m away by pressing a button on the stylus, which also allows users to control a slideshow or play and pause videos.

The stylus charges when placed in the phone, taking just 40 seconds to fully charge it for 30 minutes of use.

The Note 9 has dual 12-megapixel rear cameras and an 8-megapixel front camera, with intelligent scene detection which recognises 20 categories and Flaw Detection which alerts users if there’s something wrong with their photo.

The smartphone is powered by an Exynos 9810 octa-core processor (2.7GHz + 1.7GHz) and it runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo).

The Note 9 is available starting Aug 24 – the 128GB model comes in Ocean Blue, Midnight Black and Metallic Copper for RM3,699. The 512GB Galaxy Note 9 costs RM4,599 and only comes in Midnight Black.
