Converting a video file from one format to another can be a bit tricky without the right software. What many people don't know is that the free and widely popular VLC media player can do it for you.

You don't even have to watch the video before you convert it, according to the German tech magazine PC Magazin.

Instead, you can simply select the file in the "Media" menu, and then "Convert/Save". Click on the "Convert/Save" button to select the desired format and the film will be converted.
