A new episode of the Fallout post-apocalyptic adventure franchise will be released in November, developer Bethesda has announced.

Unlike previous versions, Fallout 76 won't be a pure single-player adventure but will instead be played by multiple players in a large online platform.

Players will be able to chose to cooperate or go it alone. The game is set 25 years after the great war of 2077 with West Virginia as the location.

The scenes shown by Bethesda are reminiscent of other survival titles, albeit set in a post-apocalyptic fallout environment.

Players explore an area devastated by a nuclear war and teeming with weird creatures while they perform tasks and try to build a new civilisation. The building system introduced in Fallout 4 is to play a major role.

In contrast to other survival titles, a character's death isn't final and doesn't destroy the progress made in the game up until that point.

Fallout 76 will be released in November for PCs, the Xbox One and the Playstation 4. — dpa
