Disney is set to launch a new app aimed at making wait times for thrill rides and attractions at their parks in Orlando and Anaheim less tedious.

In time for the opening of Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando this weekend, the Play Disney Parks mobile app will make its debut as an interactive tool that allows guests to play games with the physical environment.

Pointing smartphones at select posters and images along Main Street or while waiting in line to board an attraction, for instance, will trigger interactive games, experiences, trivia and music.

Before climbing aboard Peter Pan's Flight, users can think "happy thoughts" with Tinker Bell or get ready for their Space Mountain ride by undergoing galactic training missions prior to boarding.

While waiting their turn to ride the new Slinky Dog Dash coaster, riders can play Andy's Board Game Blast via the app, to make the wait more bearable.

The app also features group play options so that the entire family can participate and play.

Play Disney Parks will be available for both iOS and Android and will be free to download. — AFP Relaxnews
