One of the downsides of travelling is that you don’t know if you’ll have Internet connection while you are abroad. This is especially annoying if you’re travelling with your family and need to keep tabs on where to meet, hail a ride or even keep in touch.
Understanding this problem, Maxis introduces FamilyRoam for MaxisOne Plan and MaxisOne Prime plans which allows all lines under the same account to enjoy data roaming when one user purchases the MaxisOne World Pass for RM38 a day.
Once the pass is activated, everyone will be notified that they too can now start roaming. Each user will get 500MB data a day, and the user will receive an SMS notification when they have used up their quota.
Subsequent Internet use will be drawn from the user’s domestic data at no additional cost. If the user also runs out of domestic data, then they will browse at reduced speeds without incurring additional charges.
“Maxis FamilyRoam is the perfect addition to our current suite of family-focused products. We know that mobile phones and the Internet are crucial to our daily lives, so we want entire families to have a seamless and worry-free Internet experience even while travelling,” said Maxis postpaid head Arjun Varma in a statement.
Users will also be able to make free unlimited international calls and send SMS to any number in the world.
Maxis FamilyRoam is supported in all Asean country, namely Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Singapore. However, it’s country-specific so a pass activated in Singapore cannot be used in Thailand or any other country.
The pass will be valid till the end of the day – the FAQ states that the pass will expire after 11.59pm of the destination country’s capital city time.
