Motorola has announced three versions of the new Moto G6, adding a budget version to the increasingly common smartphone combination of normal and "plus". This mid-range smartphone sports a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with an 18:9 ratio in Full HD+ (1080 x 2160 pixels) resolution.

With a price tag of around US$250 (RM988), it offers a number of high-end functions: a dual rear camera (12 and 5 megapixels, maximum aperture f1.7) accompanied by software to help it detect text, objects and landmarks.

In addition to an FM radio receiver, you'll also get voice control, the faster-connecting Bluetooth 5 and the latest version of Android (Oreo). And with an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset, 32 GB of built-in storage and 3 GB of RAM, this phone also packs decent hardware for its price range.

Together with the Moto G6, Motorola is also offering the phone in Play and Plus versions. Play, the entry-level model, costs around US$200 (RM790), is the same size as the Moto G6 and comes with similar features, but the display resolution is a lower 720 x 1440 pixels.

Instead of the dual rear camera, you'll get a single 13-megapixel lens and a somewhat weaker Snapdragon 430 chipset. In return, the smartphone has more battery power and the fingerprint sensor is housed on the back.

The Moto G6 Plus, which won't be available in some regions such as North America, touts a larger 5.9-inch display, 64 GB built-in memory and 4 GB RAM. For around €300 (RM1,412), the big brother comes with the same features as the G6. — dpa
