The Misfit Path Hybrid Smartwatch, has now gone on sale through the company's website for the affordable price of US$149.99 (RM583.29). The fifth watch in Misfit's smartwatch portfolio, as well as the smallest, measuring at 38mm, the Path, like the brand's earlier Phase model, has a minimalist design that adopts the style of a classic analog watch and combines it with connectivity, giving it its "hybrid" status.
There's no touchscreen, so you won't be able to see messages or who is calling. However, a discreet customisable vibration will make you aware of those calls, app alerts and alarms. Additionally, it's designed to let you "control other connected smart devices with just a touch of a button". That may include music playback or taking a photo, for example.
The Misfit Path pairs with your phone via Bluetooth to provide data about your activity, or lack thereof, as well as sleep analytics. It automatically tracks steps, distance, calories and light and restful sleep. The wearable can go as deep as 50 meters underwater and is swim-proof, so it's probably ok if you forget to take it off before jumping in the shower.
Anyone not too thrilled about introducing more charging docks and cables to their lives, will probably appreciate the coin cell battery, which the company claims can last up to 6 months.
The phone features four colour options: Stainless Steel, Rose Tone, Gold Tone, and Stainless Steel with Gold Tone Accent. Plus there are “integrated lugs that allow for endless style options through a wide range of 16mm strap options – so you can change things up, keep your look fresh, and make Path yours”.
Similar hybrid watches have also gone for a more traditional and minimalistic style, such as the Nokia's Steel HR, which is a bit pricier but also incorporates a small embedded screen to give basic information, such as heart rate.
For Misfit Path's starting price of US$149.99, it could be one of the more affordable smartwatch hybrids at moment. To see more, visit the brand's website
