After introducing a number of Nokia smartphones throughout last year, HMD Global is keeping the momentum going with the release of two new devices into the growing family.
HMD Global (Malaysia and Myanmar) country manager Vijay Thangavelu announced the arrival of Nokia 7 plus, which he said would give the users a flagship smartphone experience.
“It is not a fancy looking smartphone, but it is a smartphone that you can rely on,” said Vijay at the launch in Kuala Lumpur.
The Nokia 7 plus has the Dual-Sight feature that simultaneously captures feeds from front and rear cameras in a split screen for photos and videos.The Nokia 7 plus has a dual-lens 12-megapixel + 13-megapixel rear camera, as well as a 16-megapixel front facing camera.
Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform, the device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo, and has a 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory that can be expanded to up to 256GB with a MicroSD card. As part of the Android One family, the device is expected to stay fresh over time with Google's latest innovations and regular security updates. It comes with limited pre-installed apps that supposedly give users more storage space.
The 6in LCD full HD+ has an 18:9 screen ratio, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The Nokia 7 plus has a 3,800mAh battery, with USB type-C fast charging, that reportedly can last to up to two days.
Priced at RM1,699 the Nokia 7 plus comes in Black/Copper and White/Copper and is available in stores starting April 20. Each purchase of the Nokia 7 plus comes with a gift box that includes a Bluetooth tripod, tempered glass screen protector, as well as fish eye, wide and macro lens. The gift box is available while stocks last.
Also joining the Nokia family is the Nokia 1 which runs on Android Oreo (Go Edition). The lower-end smartphone is targeted towards those who want to transition from feature phones.

The Nokia 1 runs on MediaTek Quad Core 1.1GHz processor, and has a 1GB RAM with 8GB internal memory that can be expanded to up to 128GB with a MicroSD card. With a 4.5in FWVGA display, the device has a 5-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has a removable 2,150mAh battery.
Priced at RM339, it comes in Warm Red and Dark Blue, and during the introductory period, customers will receive an Xpress-on cover for every purchase while stocks last. Additionally, Xpress-on covers are sold separately and priced from RM39.90 (for a set of two), and come in Azure, Grey, Yellow and Pink. The Nokia 1 will go on sale starting April 13.
