Longtv is the latest player to take on the responsibility of keeping Malaysians entertained.
It’s planning to introduce an Android box and mobile app for streaming the latest movies, TV series, sporting events and entertainment shows as they are happening around the world.
“Longtv will give Malaysians access to education, news, entertainment, and media content at an affordable price,” said Longvision Media Sdn Bhd chief operating officer CH Low at the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Longvision Media Sdn Bhd and redONE, Mcalls, Eternal Asia Malaysia, AOC Malaysia, Zeta IOS and the Kelantan State Government.
Low added that Longtv will offer live feed of all terrestrial TV channels in Malaysia, and many from around the world. This includes live streaming of news and sporting events.
With a targeted launch in the second quarter of the year, Longtv has obtained its broadcast license from the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to be the legal Internet television service provider and digital television platform in the country.
It will be integrating various forms of media such as digital television, Internet Protocol television (IPTV) and Over-the-top (OTT) services.
“We’ll also be providing the latest movies from the international market like Hollywood, Hong Kong and China, as well as other parts of Asia. The library will be updated from time to time to provide new content for viewers,” said Low.
He also said that viewers can utilise the karaoke-on-demand feature, which will have over 20,000 songs from all over the world in its library.
Gamers can also use Longtv to play various Android titles. “There will be interactive games where the players can play with people from around the world,” said Low.
Longtv will also be available on mobile phones and viewers will be able to sign in using the same account on multiple devices.
The pricing for Longtv services will be announced at a later date.
