Android 8.0 Oreo update for Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8+ stopped

Samsung S8 users will have to wait a while longer to try out the latest Android 8 Oreo.

Samsung has stopped the roll-out of its Android 8.0 Oreo update for the flagship Galaxy S8 and S8+, after introducing it last week.

Following a Beta test, Samsung released the update for its devices in markets including Malaysia.

Tech portal Sammobile conducted its own check to independently confirm the update was pulled, finding that the G950/G955-FXXU1CRAP Android 8.0 firmware files for these smartphones were no longer available for download on Samsung’s servers.

This would not affect users that had managed to update their devices to the latest operating system.

A source claimed Samsung was working on a new firmware version for the Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 release, which should be out soon.

However, no reason has yet to be given for halting the rollout.

Some of the new features for the update would have included limiting background services to lengthen battery life, improvements to the Edge screen, dual messenger feature which allows users to have two copies of the same messenger app, and Bluetooth support for high-quality audio codecs.
