Flexiroam wants Beta testers for its free Whatsapp roaming service

Sign up for free WhatsApp when roaming as a tester for Flexiroam X

Mobile data roaming provider Flexiroam Sdn Bhd is looking for beta testers for its free WhatsApp roaming service, ahead of the full rollout in the second quarter.

In a post on its blog RoamingBuzz, the Flexiroam team announced it would be sending out invites to Beta testers by March 15 for the service, called Flexiroam X² BETA.

Flexiroam X connects users to roaming partners in 100 countries – like Vodafone, AT&T, Indostat and T-Mobile – through a single prepaid account. As it uses a microchip that sticks onto the users'  SIM card, you don't have to swap SIM cards when in a new country.

Flexiroam X² builds on that by allowing existing users to make free text messages, voice and video calls via the WhatsApp application.

"Connectivity is a basic necessity for most but still represents a significant challenge to many travellers. To combat this, Flexiroam provides affordable, borderless data roaming globally," they said.

It added that apps like WhatsApp also allow users to stay connected across borders, inline with Flexiroam’s aim.

Flexiroam said it had about 120,000 subscribers from over 50 different countries worldwide for its romaing service.

WhatsApp users worldwide can sign up for Flexiroam X² BETA here but you will have to sign up for the service first.
