DroneShield introduces a radio gun that can knockout drones from a kilometer away - DroneShield

Drone detection company DroneShield has introduced a radio gun that knockouts drones from a kilometer away.

According to their site, the DroneGun Tactical provided a safe countermeasure against a wide range of drone models as it could disrupt multiple radio frequency bands simultaneously, working on 433MHz, 915MHz, 2.4GHz & 5.8GHz bands.

The company claimed that there will be no damage to the drone or surrounding environment – when "hit" by the gun, the drone will initiate a controlled vertical landing on the spot or return back to the starting point.

It added that this could help investigation as the drone remains intact and if the drone returns to the original spot, it could help track the operator.

The DroneGun Tactical also has a feature to immediately stop video transmission back to the drone operator.

The device has a slick black rifle styling that makes it look like a sci-fi gun, DroneShield said it was user-friendly and required no technical training for setup or use, running for up to 30 minutes on one charge.

Measuring 1422 x 450 x 203mm, it weighed 16.5kg including the custom carbon fibre carry case.

Although DroneShield has offices in Sydney, Australia and Virginia and the United States, the DroneGun Tactical is not for sale in the US, other than to Government agencies, while its usage is also prohibited by federal law.

The site warns laws limit the availability of the DroneGun Tactical to certain users in other jurisdictions with similar regulations.
