Facebook is now going after some of the most annoying clickbait posts that push users towards sharing or commenting.

As the company explains in a blog entry, posts that use emojis to encourage users to react, share or vote will be displayed less prominently in the future.

In the future, an algorithm is to identify and hide such posts, also known as engagement bait. Users and pages constantly submitting such posts will be punished by losing reach.

However, posts using such techniques to look for missing people or asking for real user feedback, such as travel tips, will not be penalised. — dpa
