Maxis’ new digital Internet plan, ookyo, which offers unlimited data for selected apps, will only cost RM1 for the first month for new registrations until Dec 5.

Users have a choice of two “packs” – Social gives unlimited data for apps such as Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest while Entertainment is for apps like Spotify, Shazam and Joox.

Whichever pack you pick, you will get unlimited data for popular chat apps such as WhatsApp, Line and WeChat.

The plan also includes 3GB data for other apps that are not included in the pack.

You can also get an Unlimited Pass for RM3 per month Maxis claims will give you unlimited data for over 100 apps, including Pokemon Go, Clash Royale and Mobile Legends.

The telco says more apps will be added and improved over time based on feedback from users.

“The service was developed from an idea we had to come up with a 100% digital product that was truly innovative and offered a great Internet proposition.

“The service is designed for those who live a life that is all about the Internet,” said Maybel Chan, head of ookyo.

“With ookyo, users will enjoy 24/7 unlimited high-speed Internet on their favourite apps, with no limitations or restrictions, and enjoy videos and livestreaming on popular apps like Facebook and Instagram.

However, you will have to pay for calls or SMSes – calls are charged at 15sen for 30 seconds and messages at 15sen for one message.

Or you can opt for a bundle which will give you 1,000 minutes worth of calls and 1,000 SMSes for RM8.

During the promotion period, you will get 20% Google Play credit every time you make a purchase on the ookyo store but this will revert to 10% after that.

The credit can be used for app subscriptions, in-app purchases as well as movies, books and magazine purchases on the Play Store.

Maxis says ookyo is not a postpaid or prepaid plan and the RM30 monthly fee will be deducted from the debit or credit card they link to the account.

The ookyo service is powered by Maxis 4G network and Hotlink users will not have to change their SIM card but its postpaid users will have to.
