Amazon.com Inc’s proposed US$13.7bil (RM58.60bil) purchase of Whole Foods Market Inc won quick US antitrust approval, showing that concerns in Washington about the growing power of technology companies weren’t enough to derail the online retailer’s biggest-ever acquisition.
The US Federal Trade Commission approved the deal within a 30-day review period without an in-depth investigation after determining the tie-up wouldn’t hurt competition, the agency said.
