Paul Auster and Siri Hustvedt are both novelists from New York. Both are world-renowned writers whose novels are highly praised by critics. However, while Auster's German Wikipedia article is more 100 lines long, Hustvedt's is barely a tenth of that length.
This imbalance is found everywhere on Wikipedia, say employees of the Munich-based "Platform" project. They attribute the discrepancy to one particular fact: a large proportion of Wikipedia authors are male.
