WhatsApp is taking direct aim at rival Skype with the launch of a new video call feature.

Available only on Android phones for now, the beta version of its Android app now comes with the ability to place video calls, reports Mashable.

Users must download the latest beta version of WhatsApp to take advantage of the new feature which can be found on Google Play.
