France is being presented as a shining example of an Airbnb success story, with new figures cementing the country's status as the biggest market for the short-term vacation rental service – and proving Airbnb a formidable player in the country's tourism industry. 

Between September 2014 and August 2015, 3.9 million France-bound travellers booked their accommodation through Airbnb, 2.1 million of whom came from abroad.
