Amazon pledges US$10mil to boost book translations

Book lovers: Amazon will invest US$10mil over the next five years.

The world's biggest online retailer wants to increase the number of new books from around the world that get translated into English. 

Via its AmazonCrossing imprint, Amazon is already one of the biggest publishers of translated texts in the US and over the next five years will be funnelling a further US$10mil (RM41.26mil) into the initiative in order to pay translators and to set up a website where authors, agents and publishers can put forward works for consideration.
