Wide demographic: 'Destiny: The Taken King' is looking to recruit new players and veterans alike.

With Destiny: The Taken King out on Sept 15, the videogame expansion has come up with a novel way of getting players to interact with an online ad.

Players of existing game Destiny, a sci-fi shooter from the makers of the Halo franchise, can plug in their PlayStation or Xbox IDs on an official site page, destinythegame.com/legend-of-you

The site inserts the chosen name into a montage that includes game visuals from The Taken King along with a personal title and in-game accomplishments mined from the Destiny database – most effective weapon, badges earned, events completed, rarest feats, and so on.

Destiny: The Taken King is the second entry to a new franchise from Bungie, and the first of four expected major expansions that are thought to form part of a ten-year deal with Call of Duty publisher Activision.

Released on Sept 15 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, The Taken King is available as a download for existing owners, or as part of an on-disc retail package together with 2014's original Destiny and its two add-ons. — AFP Relaxnews
