As the last of three Dark Knight games from acclaimed developer Rocksteady, does Batman: Arkham Knight clue us in to the studio's next game, or Warner's plans for the Batman universe?
Players have been finding a number of references to Krypton's famous son in Batman: Arkham Knight, with Kotaku rounding up half a dozen specimens.
Some examples refer to Superman or associated characters and locations by name, others are a little less obvious -- though not by much -- and Gotham's thugs even appear more respectful of Kal-El than the much more immediate Batman.
While it's possible that publisher (and DC Comics owner) Warner Bros ordered these insertions ahead of 2016 crossover film Batman v. Superman, another popular inference is that Rocksteady were gearing up for work on a Superman game.
The studio had definitively declared Batman: Arkham Knight to be its last Batman game, 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum having raise the bar immeasurably on licensed video game tie-ins.
Rocksteady may now have sufficient ambition (and publisher incentive) to resurrect the Superman franchise, notorious for having produced the very, very poorly received Superman 64. — AFP Relaxnews
