Just hours after musician Taylor Swift spoke out against Apple for withholding royalties to artists during its three-month free-trial period, the tech giant backed down and has announced they will be reversing their initial position.
Swift released a letter penned to Apple calling their initial policy "shocking" and "disappointing." She also threatened to withhold her best selling album 1989 from Apple Music.
In response, Apple's Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, took to Twitter a few hours later to announce that the company reversed it decision.
" We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple."
In an interview with Billboard magazine, Cue said Swift's letter changed his mind about the payment policy and that he called Swift, currently on tour in Amsterdam, to personally deliver the news.
"I am elated and relieved," she tweeted. "Thank you for your words of support today. They listened to us." — AFP Relaxnews
