China's iQIYI serves up 5 million online video subscribers

HUGE BOOM: The video streaming service has grown its subscriber base by over 200% in 12 months.

LOS ANGELES: Chinese online video company iQIYI revealed that it has over 5 million paid-for subscribers to its premium video-on-demand system. 

The company which largely operates on an advertising supported business model, said that streaming video-on-demand (SVoD) numbers enjoyed have surged in the past two quarters. Year on year growth in SVoD subscribers is 765%, the company reported.
