WOOX Innovations Malaysia has introduced the new Philips Fidelio B5 soundbar for the local market which, together with the E5 home surround system, focuses on providing a “surround-on-demand” audio experience.
The company claims that its technology offers a wireless solution to the age old problem of clutter, eliminating the need for cables for satellite units.
Two detachable speakers to the left and right of the soundbar can be used as wireless satellite speakers to complement the soundbar, offering the “surround-on-demand” virtual surround audio experience.
Acting separately, both satellite speakers works wirelessly within an area of about ten metres from the soundbar and WOOX claimed that it can last up to ten hours of battery life (rechargeable once connected back to the main unit).
To enhance the surround sound experience, the B5's spatial calibration function will identify the best sound balance based on each of the speakers’ placement and adjust the sound of each speaker to match, even if the satellite speakers are placed outside of the ideal position.
On the other hand, it is worth noting that the main soundbar unit and the subwoofer needs to be connected to the power source.
Home surround system
As for the Fidelio E5, its detachable wireless satellite surround speakers are located at the top of the two speakers which connected to the power source.
Similar to the B5, the wireless surround speakers work within an area of ten metres and last about ten hours on a single charge.
To add a premium feel to the speakers, wood and leather materials are incorporated into the design of the E5.
Both models come with two HDMI in and one HDMI out (ARC) ports and users can connect from mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and portable audio players via Bluetooth and NFC pairing, keeping up with the current mobile music listening trend.
Both the B5 and E5 are rated at 210W and comes with Dolby Digital 5.1 and Pro Logic II surround sound audio technology.
The Fidelio B5 is available at Harvey Norman outlets nationwide at a recommended retail price of RM3,199 while the Fidelio E5 will be made available in the market in Q2.
