MAKING THE POSTMAN GO POSTAL?: Amazon's delivery service is giving European postal services companies a run for their money.

LONDON: Europe's postal firms need to slash costs and invest in new technology and services if they are to withstand the challenge of new entrants such as US online retailer Amazon in the lucrative parcel delivery market.

Companies such as Deutsche Post, whose DHL arm already offers a range of services including help with local duties and red tape on international deliveries, are best placed to cope, according to analysts.
