TECH CITY: San Francisco is playing host to a summit and challenge about wearable tech for urban issues.

In another sign that wearables are permeating every aspect of daily life, the city of San Francisco has announced the launch of an inaugural "IoT for Cities Summit and Challenge" — to design Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable technology apps for improving city life for global urban residents.

Launched in collaboration with tech incubator and ventures company Wearable World, the ideas-sharing summit will examine the issues of transportation, hospitality, wireless, entertainment, city services, and healthcare, among others. Its goal is to "build a working blueprint for cities around the world."
