From Nov 10 users based in India will no longer be able to use the VoIP service to make calls to landlines or mobile phones.
Microsoft, Skype's owner, hasn't given a reason why it has decided to drop this particular feature but has confirmed, via a support page, that the story, first broken by the Times of India, is true.
The support page does highlight that users within India will still be able to make Skype-to-Skype calls and users living outside the country will still be able to call Indian landlines and mobile phones via the service.
Skype recommends that users that currently pay a subscription for this service should cancel it to avoid occurring unnecessary charges and the Time of India has also claimed that the company is prepared to offer refunds for those affected. However, this is yet to be officially confirmed.—AFP/RelaxNews 2014
