LOCAL digital retail solutions provider Ebizu hopes to revolutionise traditional brick-and-mortar businesses by allowing them to connect with customers using Beacon-based location technology.
This technology allows merchants to identify shoppers who are close by to provide them with product information and the latest deals directly to their smartphones, the company says.
The company claims it’s the first to commercially implement Beacon-based location technology which works with Apple’s iOS and also Google’s Android devices.
Merchants are also able to know exactly who their shoppers are and use targeted marketing, says Gerard Lim, Ebizu's director.
“Ebizu empowers merchants to transform their businesses in a time when people are spending over three hours each day on their mobile devices using the Internet,” he says.
“Our contextual, personalised, and location-based marketing solution allows shoppers to select what they want to see, when they want to see it. This eliminates spam and increases interaction with shoppers via relevant offers.”
However, for the service to work, it requires users to have its Manis app installed on their devices. To date 3,000 users have downloaded Manis and the company hopes to grow its user base to 100,000 users by year-end.
Ebizu says its technology is scalable and can be customised for businesses of all sizes from hypermarkets and shopping malls to independent stores. The beacon it uses is a small Bluetooth device that’s no larger than an average power bank and has a range of 100ft.
Ebizu also offers business tools to helps merchants know more about the visitors to their stores and the data can even be used to create a “heat map” to identify areas of a shop or mall that is frequented by customers.
Lim says Ebizu’s solution is currently being used by over 50 merchants, including Kaw Kaw Burger Bakar, Alammispa, MyDressRoom and Blook.
