SINGAPORE: Singapore's telecom regulator on Tuesday fined Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) a record SG$6mil (RM15.59mil) for nine days of service disruption that followed a fire at one of its facilities last year.
The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) said SingTel and two other telecom-linked firms did not fulfil their obligations to customers after the fire at a suburban telephone exchange on Oct 9. The fine is the highest ever handed to a Singapore telecom firm, according to local media.
