YTL Communications and Intel Malaysia have announced that they will introduce more Intel-based 4G laptops and tablets in the near future for Chrome and Android platforms for the education sector in Malaysia.

Having brought in the first 4G Chromebook to Malaysia, YTL Communications is now looking to expand its portfolio of 4G devices, says Tan Seri Datuk Dr Francis Yeoh, managing director for YTL Group of Companies.

The new devices will be able to connect to both WiMax and LTE networks, and will automatically switch between the two seamlessly based on availability. YTL plans to launch its LTE network by next year.

Both organisations aim to accelerate the progress of the 1BestariNet Programme that is part of the National Education Blueprint where all primary and secondary government schools across Malaysia will be equipped with Yes 4G network Internet connectivity and Cloud-based virtual learning platform called the Frog Virtual Learning Environment.

“We are impressed by Intel’s technology in enabling next-generation mobile devices and we are looking forward to partnering with the company to bring innovative 4G devices to Malaysia,” says Yeoh. — CHONG JINN XIUNG
