TIRED of revisiting the same old restaurants and want to try something new? All you have to do is whip out your trusty smartphone and install an app from  IT Geek Studios.

The app, called My Diner Network, will use the smartphone’s geo-location capability to suggest restaurants in vicinity of the user.

Users can, of course, ask the app to narrow down the choices based on the type of dining they are looking for be it a family-friendly restaurant, place to party or cosy coffee house to chill and relax. They can further refine the search to only include, say, halal or vegetarian eateries.

Apart from that the app also highlights promotions unique to each restaurant and users can check out the full menu so that they can be ready to order upon reaching their destination.

Sathish Krishnan, founder and creator of the app, said the idea for the app came at an unexpected moment.

“I was stuck in a jam one day and was craving for a burrito but I couldn’t find a nice Mexican restaurant using

Google which got me thinking that I should create an app to help me find new places to eat,” he said.

In a span of just three months, Sathish made his idea a reality. He now aims to grow My Diner Network’s list of restaurants which currently includes the Gastrodome group which runs La Bodega and The Pressroom.

At the moment the app mainly caters to eateries in the Klang Valley and there are plans to expand the coverage to Penang, Johor and other states.

My Diner Network is available for Android on the Google Play store and is expected to hit the Apple App Store for iOS devices on Wednesday (Oct 16).
